March Cohort meeting: Kupenda Fundraiser

hey all: this is what we will be doing for our March meeting.

Three of our Cohort members are directly involved in this, so rather than having a separate meeting this month, we will be heading down to Newton to support our brothers and sisters and their awesome organization Kupenda, and in the process listen to some great music and have some time for conversation and coffee.
I'll send out more info later as to where we can meet to travel there together. But mark your calendars!

Here's the info:

The First Baptist Church of Newton hosts a monthly coffeehouse featuring different musicians from the area. The coffeehouse hosts a variety of artists whose work ranges from folk, jazz and roots-rock to gospel, world music and more, performing in a unique and inviting setting in our church.

This night will include mostly acoustic guitar playing and some original music. Featured musicians will include Ric Allendorf, Andrew Bauer, Charley Eastman, The Newton Baptist Youth Choir, Joe Tang, Julie-Ann Bauer, and Cynthia Bauer.

On Friday March 14th at 8PM, First Baptist Church of Newton will host a Kupenda musician night for their coffeehouse. Cost is $10 per person before show if purchased at the church and $12 at the door. Half of the ticket price will go to the church and the other half will go to Kupenda. All additional donations will go to support children with disabilities in the Malindi district of Kenya. Please check the website site for further details. We have a few musicians lined up but are still open to the possibility of others who would be interested in donating their time and talents. Please contact kupenda@kupenda.org if you have an interest in helping to put on this event. Otherwise we would love to see you there. Cindy will be playing guitar and singing a couple songs in the middle of the event with a short description of Kupenda's mission.

The coffee house is located at the church which is in the heart of Newton Centre, at the corner of Beacon and Centre Streets. The address is 848 Beacon Street, Newton Centre, MA 02459. There is a parking lot behind the church as well as street parking and the Newton Centre parking lot “Triangle” diagonally across the street.
