Fair Trade Action Day

Hi Everyone, The Cohort will be participating in this event on Saturday. I hope you can come. Let me know if you have any questions, or want to meet up to go.

Join Christians from all over Boston for the Boston Faith and Justice Network's April 5th supermarket action day. This event will mark the beginning of our campaign to increase the sale of fair trade products in the Boston area.

We will go out in small groups to three local supermarkets and cafes in Cambridge and Somerville. There will be two components of these visits:

1. A product survey at local supermarkets to determine what fair trade products they currently sell and in what quantity and variety these products are available.

2. Interviews with managers in which we will voice our concerns as consumers for an increase in the availability of fair trade products (a script will be provided). We will leave information informing managers how to make these products available to consumers.

The day will begin with a brief training on how to talk to store managers and a few short practice runs of conversations. Small groups will each go to three stores and return to report their findings and celebrate.

The event will be located at First Church Cambridge, UCC. For directions, see: http://www.firstchurchcambridge.org/pages/about/directions/

Please feel free to invite others you think would be interested in helping out. Contact Andy Ober if you have more questions: andrewjlober@gmail.com.

This day is just the first step in a larger campaign. There will be opportunities for follow-up in the weeks following.
